The chair is battery powered and operated by a control panel on the top of the operator handles. With the press of a button and light pressure to guide the chair, the motor turns the tracks and gently guides the person to safety.Â

While the EV-8000 is not a wheelchair for everyday use, it functions as a powered stair climbing chair for evacuation purposes. It allows a single operator to safely move a passenger up or down stairs, making it ideal for emergency stair evacuation scenarios.Â

Yes! Unlike many traditional evacuation chairs that are designed for downward travel only, the EV-8000 is battery powered and equipped with a motor, allowing for safe and controlled movement both up and down stairs. Perfect for high rise evacuations, where many flights of stairs can be tiring with other equipment.
How many people are needed to operate the EV-8000 chair safely?
The EV-8000 is designed for single-person operation thanks to its motorised stair climbing and descending mechanism. However, depending on the building layout or the condition of the passenger, additional assistance may be recommended in some situations. There are built in extendable handles by the footrest of the chair, these allow for a second person to assist if needed.
How long does the battery last?
The battery on the EV-8000 provides enough power for multiple flights of stairs on a single charge. Usage time may vary depending on passenger weight, stair angle, and frequency of use. The chair features a charge indicator and safety mechanisms to prevent use when battery is low. To prolong battery life, do not leave the battery consistently on charge, however it is safe to do so as the charger uses ‘trickle charge’ to avoid overcharging.
